The ACAMIS Chess Tournament is a one-day interschool event for students in Grades 1-5, hosted at QSI International School of Shenzhen and organized by the QSIS Secondary Chess Club in collaboration with the Zhi Teng Chess Club. Schools will compete in teams of 5-10 players across six rounds of timed chess matches, with each player receiving 15 minutes per side. The tournament uses a standard scoring system (1 point for a win, 0.5 for a draw, 0 for a loss) and recognizes both individual achievement and school performance through awards. The event promotes critical thinking, sportsmanship, and positivity among ACAMIS schools through friendly academic competition.
Each school represents a team
Each team must include 5-10 students
All students must be grades 1-5

Spectating are allowed during the tournament, however, spectators must follow the code of conduct in the "Rules" section.

Event Rules
The final rulings shall be based on the decision of the chief arbiter.
If a player touches a piece intentionally, and the piece has at least one legal move, then the player must move that piece.
When a player makes an illegal move, the clock should be paused, and an arbiter shall be called over to resolve the situation.
Players must interact with the clock and make a move with the same hand.
Using external sources (notes, electronic devices, advice from spectators) to gain an unfair advantage is strictly prohibited.
All electronic devices are not allowed to be brought into the playing area. (There will be a secure place to store them during matches.)
Spectators are not allowed to enter the playing area
Before and after each game, players should give their opponents and handshake.
Once a match is completed, both players must report the result to staff members positioned near the exit.
During a match, players must remain quiet, unless they are offering a draw, resigning, or talking to an arbiter about a rule violation.
All participants must demonstrate sportsmanship and be respectful to everyone.
Violations
Upon a violation, the chief arbiter may issue a penalty to the offending player, depending on the severity of the misconduct, penalties can include but is not limited to a warning, a deduction of time, an automatic loss, or in extreme scenarios, expulsion from the event.

Win: +1 point
Draw: +0.5 points
Loss: +0 points
Team Score:
Average score of the top 5 players
Rankings are based on amount of points
Every player will get a Certificate of Participation
